Client has some data or not That data tells us very specific things unless it’s bad But nonetheless there is a building or community Those buildings consume energy That consumption is dependent on a lot of things such as the occupant and the weather These factors have significant variation leading to changes in energy use Modeling can be used to flush out what is causing that auspicious number to go up or down We make assumptions - the building america simulation protocol is a good place to start because it is based on measurements and represents an average No one is average unless they are really boring. No one will admit to being boring so! deviations from assumptions tell us what the building is and is not. sort of this is where it starts to get really fuzzy. We can use models based on physics to determine relationships that are reasonable and even impossible.
At the community scale what was difficult just got multiplied. Its a fair democracy so every building gets the same tender loving care but there is no time.
